healing your unseen wounds

Trauma and Grief Therapy for First Responders, their families and the community

In-person therapy in Woodbury, MN - Telehealth therapy offered throughout Minnesota and Wisconsin

The world is a weird place, your life of service isn’t what it once was, and life doesn’t seem as easy as it used to this is causing responders, their families, and the communities they serve to encounter overwhelming challenges. As a responder, you are used to the chaos and unpredictability, you are trained to respond to situations and experiences that would overwhelm most people. When you experience trauma, anxiety, depression, relational issues, etc., feeling “normal” seems like a difficult task. It's common for you to carry these burdens silently, adopting coping mechanisms that may not serve you well in the long run.

When individuals and couples come in they are defeated, burned out, numb, stuck in the same loop, wondering when things will get better. After engaging in therapy, clients learn to develop effective coping strategies, gain a deeper understanding of their symptoms, and work towards leading fulfilling lives with healthier relationships.

It's the path of transformation from feeling overwhelmed and isolated to discovering strength and resilience, ultimately living the life they aspire to.

Therapy is a courageous step towards healing and growth, and it's a privilege to be part of such a transformative journey.

You no longer need to carry these burdens alone - it’s okay to ask for help.

Hi - I’m Kay!

I’m glad you found me. I’m here to help.

I am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Minnesota and Wisconsin - meaning I can see anyone residing in either state through telehealth. I provide in-person therapy at my office in Woodbury, MN. I utilize a collaborative, trauma-informed, relational approach to therapy. This means we work together on your goals and that I have the awareness that trauma affects each person differently.

I see both first responders and non-first responders in my practice. I find that one of the most important elements to good therapy is the match between client and therapist, I encourage you to do your research.

As your therapist you can expect a person who is interested in “getting you”. I bring a straightforward and real-life approach to building tools and insight to help with the hard stuff. My approach to therapy is to be laid-back minus the fluff, you-centered, and actively engaged. You take the steering wheel, I’m here for the ride-along.

As you know, life is set up to celebrate our achievements and successes which leaves little space for the hard, gritty stuff. My goal is to give you a space to talk about the hard stuff and appreciate the good stuff.

You can read more about me and my pal Banner on our “introduction” page.

Next Steps

If you are ready to ditch the mental crud that weighs you down and are ready to live the life YOU want - I would love to help you, so let’s chat.

  1. Set up a call - I prefer zoom for the initial consult, I think it is easier to put a face with the person you are talking to. This is a time where you can ask questions, discuss your goals, and I discuss my approach to therapy.

  2. Begin therapy - we will meet for your initial intake. This first session is more structured - I get to know more about you and we more clearly define what you expect and need from your therapy experience.

  3. Feel relief - have healthier relationships, improved mental health and improved physical health.

Let’s get to work!
